This site is a personal website operated by Craig Jacobs. This policy explains what information the site collects, why, and what happens to it.
The short version
This site does not run advertising, does not sell data, and does not use third-party tracking or analytics. The information described below is the minimum a WordPress site collects in order to function.
What is collected
- Server logs. The web server records IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps, referrers, and browser user-agent strings. These are used for security and troubleshooting.
- Comments. If commenting is enabled and you leave a comment, the site stores the name, email address, and website you provide, along with your IP address and browser user-agent.
- Contact by email. If you email me, I keep that correspondence so I can reply and refer back to it.
- Accounts. If you have a login on this site, the site stores your account details and preferences.
What is not collected
No third-party analytics, advertising networks, social media pixels, or cross-site trackers are used on this site. Your information is not sold, rented, or traded.
How long it is kept
Server logs are rotated and discarded on a routine schedule. Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so that follow-up replies can be recognized and approved automatically. Account information is retained for as long as the account exists.
Embedded content from other sites
Pages on this site may include embedded content such as videos or images hosted elsewhere. Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if you had visited that website directly, and those sites may collect data about you, use cookies, and monitor your interaction with the embed. This site has no control over that.
Your rights
You may request a copy of the personal data this site holds about you, or ask for it to be deleted, by emailing contact@craigjacobs.com. Requests are honoured except where the data must be retained for legal or security reasons. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with an updated date at the top.
